About The Founder
Apsara Afsanesara is a dancer, choreographer, researcher, and educator specializing in the dance traditions of Iran, Central Asia, and the Caucasus. She is the founder of Afsanesara Dance Academy, an international online school dedicated to preserving and artistically promoting these cultural dance forms.
Apsara holds academic degrees in Choreography and Iranian Studies, a rare combination that gives her work both artistic depth and cultural accuracy. Her dance education includes extensive training with master teachers from Iran, Georgia, Uzbekistan, and beyond, as well as multiple study trips to these countries. She continues to refine her skills through ongoing artistic research and collaboration.
As a performer, she is the choreographer and artistic director of Afsanesara Dance Ensemble, known for blending traditional movement vocabulary with contemporary theatrical elements. As an educator, she has taught and performed internationally, sharing her expertise with students across Europe and the Middle East, as well as worldwide via online classes.
Apsara is recognized for her thoughtful teaching style, clear methodology, and ability to make culturally complex material accessible to foreign dancers of all levels. Her approach combines technique, musicality, historical context, and expressive interpretation — helping students not only learn movements but understand the spirit and storytelling behind them.
